Harbor by John Ajvide Lindqvist
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This novel of watery dread and the fog of loss is brought to you by the writer behind the Swedish horror novel, “Let the Right One In.” In my opinion, “Harbor” is not what would be considered a horror novel, although there is definitely an undercurrent of terror and dread. With that in mind, I would say that this is a slowly and quietly executed story. Which does not suit some, and that’s fine. I would say that about three-quarters of the way in, it dragged a bit and my interest in the storyline began to wane but then things kicked back in and the final portion was quite satisfying. I give it three stars because it is well done and I have a soft spot for tales of terror where the sea figures prominently.
